Christmas Light Takedown and Off Season Storage, What Happens in January|What Happens to Holiday Lights in January?|Christmas Light Takedown

The forgotten half

The whole discussion points at one day in November. Which makes sense, because that is the visible part. But the season ends, and then there is a second job nobody scheduled. The people who asked the question up front have a much better January than the people who did not.And that is unfortunate, because the second half is the one that costs you if it is not covered. Anybody can hang lights in November. The question is whether anyone comes back. That question is worth asking before you book, not the one you have in January.

The self service version

The takedown is worse. Cold, no enthusiasm, and a mess at the end. Then the strands get boxed and shoved somewhere, where they tangle, get crushed, and lose a section by next November.

Takedown as part of the job

Takedown belongs in the original agreement. When the season ends, a crew comes back and removes everything. The lights get labeled, packed and kept in storage until next year, ready to reinstall the following season. You never handle any of it.

What storage actually buys you

Three things come out of somebody else storing it. Space is reclaimed. Condition is preserved, which is why so many strands die between seasons. And because they are labeled by where they go on your house, next season looks like this season.

The permanent alternative removes the question

The other option removes the takedown conversation entirely. A permanent LED system is installed one time and left in place, so there is nothing to take down and nothing to store, ever. It is a different purchase with different math, and it is not right for everybody. But if the takedown conversation is what is bothering you, it is worth asking about once.

Mid season service

Over a full season, something will eventually need a look. What matters https://hectorxrze841.publishlane.com/posts/custom-lighting-design-what-you-should-be-handed-before-you-sign-is-your-lighting-quote-actually-a-design-why-custom-design-matters-in-outdoor-lighting-more-than-the-hardware-does is whether anybody comes out. Service during the season belongs on the quote, and you should know before December. Ask while you are still comparing companies, not on the twenty second of December.

The second year

The first season involves a design conversation, decisions and a plan. After that, the design already exists and the materials are already labeled. Booking the second year is confirming a date and saying whether anything changed. Changes start from what is already there, instead of a blank page.

What to settle in writing

Ask whether takedown is included or billed separately. Ask who owns the materials, since that determines who stores them. Ask how the takedown gets scheduled. EverCrest Lighting includes takedown and off season storage with its holiday lighting work, and installs permanent LED systems for anyone finished with the yearly cycle, for residential and commercial properties across Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, based in Greenville.
